TORONTO, ON, March 20, 2025 – Shoppers Drug Mart has officially opened the doors to its first Pharmacy Care Clinic on a university campus(Open in a new tab). Located within the University of Ottawa’s main campus, this new location expands student access to trusted healthcare practitioners as well as offers hands-on learning opportunities for those enrolled in the university’s health sciences and pharmacy programs.
“We’re proud to have played a part in ensuring that students at the University of Ottawa will have convenient, on-campus access to pharmacy services and trusted advice at our new on-campus Pharmacy Care Clinic,” said Jeff Leger, President, Shoppers Drug Mart. “This new location reflects a commitment that we share with the University of Ottawa to enhance access to care delivered in the manner best suited for each patient.”
The Pharmacy Care Clinic is located at 801 King Edward Avenue at the Minto Sports Complex, adjacent to the Student Health and Wellness Centre to complement the Centre’s One Door service delivery model which aims to improve students' access to wellness services. With the opening of this new location, students can now receive pharmacy services, medical care and trusted advice in one location on the University of Ottawa’s campus.
“One of our first responsibilities is the health and well-being of our university community,” said Jacques Frémont, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa. “This partnership with Shoppers Drug Mart helps us improve access to health-care services we are able to offer our students. It also provides valuable work experience to many students in our pharmacy program as well as exciting opportunities to enhance our outstanding research activities in this space."
Pharmacy services – which include the assessment and treatment of common minor ailments such as urinary tract infections and pink eye - are available both through appointment or by walk-in. Patients and students can call the store to make an appointment or book online through the PC Health App.
